Artist Profile

Marilyn is an artist based in Victoria with over 25 years of experience in the art, design and museum sectors of tertiary education. She paints oil on linen art pieces that deeply explore architectural and interior design history, infused with a sophisticated understanding of colour theory. Marilyn seeks to evoke emotions through colour and invites viewers into a world where art and design intersect harmoniously to reflect the dynamic interplay between space and emotion.

Influenced by the style of the old Flemish Masters, Danish painter, Vilhelm Hammershøi, the contemporary work of Giorgio Morandi from Italy as well as the colour principles of The Bauhaus.

Marilyn’s work often focuses on the interiors of the built environment, design history, and contemporary spaces. Through the meticulous layering of oil pigments, Marilyn aims to create works that transcend time, inviting viewers to engage with the timeless and the transient.

Marilyn has been a finalist in several art prizes and is a member of The Victorian Artists Society.

Her current work delves into both subject and colour, focusing on finding evocative beauty in the between spaces.
